Trans Am, Day 37: Fredericktown, MO to Pilot Knob, MO

I planned today’s ride around a stop at a bike store in Farmington, MO.

My Brooks Cambium bar tape was disintegrating after 37 days of riding (boo!). So I replaced my BB7 brake pads and put new bar tape on in a motel room. This might be the worst bar taping I’ve ever done. (No, I won’t post a photo!) I also tightened all the bolts on the bicycle, and lubed the chain.

And I saw many more dead armadillos, but still no live ones.

A note on the tools: I collect tools I find when I am on my bicycle, just for fun. I’ve found dozens, maybe more than a hundred, over the last few years. I haven’t found many on this tour, likely because it is so rural, but I found three wrenches on one 18 mile stretch of road today!

Third wrench find!

This brave turtle is the first one who poked his/her head out after I'd picked it up, and it did it repeatedly! Sorry the photo is blurry. My phone was misbehaving (I think a drop of sweat hit the screen and was causing problems).

Before the rescue.
