Oregon!
Today’s ride was the warmest start I’ve had for weeks! I didn’t even need a jacket!
Monday morning is probably the best time to ride through Hell’s Canyon, because the kids are back in school and the only people on the road are working. Once I was in Oregon, I was riding on a privately owned road. It is owned by Idaho Power, and the only vehicles I saw on it were owned by the company. Even after I was on Oregon 86, though, there was almost no traffic. It was delightful!
I stopped for refreshments at a store that didn’t show up on my ACA map. While I was leeching their WiFi, Moises, who is from Barcelona, Spain, but flies jets for Delta and lives in Sun Valley, stopped for a chat. He races mountain bikes, and we talked for a while about cycling and gear. Then he asked me if I would mind pushing him on his motorcycle. His battery was dead. The store clerk and I pushed him across the parking lot until he got it started. I forgot to get a picture!
I am pleased that I had phone service for most of the day in Oregon. I hope that is a trend! As I get closer to home, I am starting to crave social interaction, even in the form of Facebook.
