Trans Am, Day 107: Cannon Beach, OR to Astoria, OR

TransAm completed! I reached Astoria today. I couldn’t find a place to safely get my bike down to the water, and now I suspect I was supposed to dip my wheel into the Pacific when I first encountered it, since this is actually the Columbia River anyway. Oh well!

Susan, my wife, recently referred to my urge to do the hard things first as “eating the elephant,” and it is a core part of my personality. This meant today was a short day – only 31 miles. It’s just as well, because I had a hard time sleeping last night. I am only a few days from home, and anxiety over how I will re-adapt to NOT being on the road every day seems to be rearing its head. I am sure I am overthinking it, and everything will be fine!

Now, on to my beautiful home state! 🚵‍
