I spent the morning on Oregon Route 126. This road parallels the McKenzie River. It might have been a beautiful valley, but I don’t know, because my attention was glued to my rear-view mirror all morning. I’ve never seen a road with as much indecision as this one. Sometimes it had a wonderful, wide, clean shoulder. Sometimes it had no shoulder at all. And these conditions would frequently alternate with no warning. The only consistent thing was the traffic — lots of it, traveling very fast. And lots of logging trucks! So, not much fun! I am glad it was mostly downhill or flat.
Around mile 40, I finally got off this road and could breathe a little more easily.
