We have a storm, or series of storms, coming, so, after a couple days camping in the rain (earlier in the journey), I’ve decided to start the day dry by sleeping indoors, or at least under a shelter.
To do this, I have studied the ACA maps, and figured out where to stay for the next few days. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately?), today’s ride was either a short 20 mile ride, or a 70 mile/7,000 foot ride, so I decided to play it safe and get a headstart, so tomorrow will be a 50 mile/5,000+ foot ride.
Today’s short ride was uneventful, but I decided to stay at a more luxurious motel (Hampton Inn & Suites) because there is a REAL GROCERY STORE next door! The last few days, all of my food (except a pizza last night) has come from a “dollar” store. Basically, junk food and gatorade. Yesterday, I started fantasizing about oranges, so, when I saw this hotel was next door to a real grocery store, I couldn’t resist.
Tomorrow, I will be sleeping outdoors, under a shelter, at the Booneville Presbyterian Church, and I am going to hoard at least one orange to savor before bed!
