Getting out of the Oak Ridge Campground and back on the ACA Atlantic Coast route proved to be a challenge! I didn’t get back on the trail until I’d ridden more than 17 miles! I am beginning to mistrust Google Maps! At least it was pretty!
Most of today’s ride was on fairly busy narrow roads with no shoulder. I was really nervous, but the Virginia drivers were generally awesome. I didn’t have a single close pass, and most of them waited to pass me until it was safe. One driver didn’t – he took the entire oncoming lane (yay for giving me space), but it was on a curve, and, sure enough, a car appeared. There was honking, but I am not sure how the accident was averted, because I was looking for an escape route.
It was really hot for a Seattle rider. It was in the low-to-mid 90s, with really high humidity, and I drank SO MUCH fluids, but I don’t think it was enough, because I never had to, um, pee.
I decided to stay in a motel, because I wanted WiFi, so I can set up some kind of Android remote control software on my PC, because I HATE typing on a phone.
