I am on the TransAm! I will be going the wrong way for a couple days, since I want to start in Yorktown, which I think some TABR riders will probably find puzzling (“Hey! You’re going the wrong way!”).
Today’s ride was amazing. Still no shoulders (I don’t think Virginia believes in them), and still narrow roads, but there were far fewer cars, and everyone was really careful to give me space.
I had my first unleashed dog chase me. I yelled, “Go home!” and he stopped and turned around. I felt kind of bad for yelling at him.
I have been seeing lots of squished box turtles and soft-shelled turtles, and I finally found a live one. I put him off the road so he wouldn’t get hit (hopefully).
I am staying in a luxurious campground with WiFi and a laundry!
